Cowichan Tribes Administration Building Wins Top Award of Excellence at VIREB Awards

We are proud to announce that Formline Architecture’s Cowichan Tribes Administration Building has been honored with the Top Award of Excellence in the Institutional Renovation category at the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) Awards. This recognition celebrates projects that demonstrate exceptional design, innovation, and community impact on Vancouver Island.

The Cowichan Tribes Administration Building renovation was a transformative project that prioritized functionality, sustainability, and cultural representation. The design respects the Cowichan community’s traditions while creating a modern and efficient space to serve as the heart of governance and administration. Key elements included the use of natural materials, improved spatial flow, and the incorporation of culturally significant design features that reflect the identity and heritage of the Cowichan Tribes.

Receiving the Top Award of Excellence underscores the value of thoughtful renovations that honor both place and purpose. By revitalizing an existing structure, the project not only improved operational capacity but also created a welcoming environment that fosters connection and community pride.

We are grateful to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board for recognizing this meaningful project and extend our gratitude to the Cowichan Tribes for their collaboration and trust in our vision.
