Alfred established Alfred Waugh Architects, a 100% Indigenous-owned practice.

2008

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre opened to visitors in Whistler, BC.

Received our first Canadian Wood Council Award, Use of Cedar, for the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre.

The award winning First People’s House completed construction at the University of Victoria.

Alfred Waugh Architects was incorporated and renamed to Formline Architecture and Urbanism.

Began work on our first international project, the Squaxin Island Natural and Cultural Resource Centre, WA, USA.

Construction was completed for the Indian Residential School History & Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia.

Design process began for Formline’s largest project yet, the Saskatoon New Central Library with a size of 12,634 m2.

Alfred won the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture for the Indian Residential School History & Dialogue Centre.
