Yaduo Laurence Liu

Architectural Designer

M.Arch, B.ASc

Key Projects

New Central Library

Elliott Bay Pavilion

BC Soccer Grandstand

Yaduo (Laurence) joined Formline as an architectural designer in 2023 after moving to Vancouver from Beijing. Since then, he has participated in a variety of projects, from concept design to construction documents, producing high quality drawings and renderings, collaborating with consultants to integrate different disciplinaries into one building without compromising the architectural qualities.

Laurence began his academic journey at Beijing University of Technology where he pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering. He went on to receive a Master of Architecture from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. After a few years of working in the architecture field in China, he decided to make the move to Vancouver, where he has worked on a wide range of projects such as the New Central Library in Saskatoon and Elliot Bay Pavilion in Seattle.

Laurence has experience working closely with contractors on site to adjust the design based on the specific situations and get feedback from the clients, making sure the construction will proceed in accordance with basic design principles, which helped him to develop substantial design techniques and detail understandings. He has a high devotion to architecture and a deep understanding toward the relationship between function and aesthetics. Moreover, his diligence and conscientious work ethics make him a valuable team member.
