Concept of the Te’Tuxwtun Master Plan is based on the Longhouse concept at both the macro and micro scale. On the macro scale buildings line the edge of a long green space facing the sacred Te’Tuxwtun Mountain. On a micro scale each building is a long rectangular form evocative of the traditional pre-European Longhouse.
Residential mass timber panelized structures are built over 2 levels of subgrade concrete parkades. A combination of live/work and commercial/community use animate the street with a central courtyard for play, story telling, reflection, outdoor learning and flexible communal use.
Centering around existing nature with hard and soft landscaping for multi-purpose use, the experience will emphasis a communal safe and inclusive space that encourages dialogue, interaction, and the awareness of nature.
